What can I say about these two. I love them both so much. Ashton is like a younger sister to me—we met playing roller derby. We started out as nemeses from rival small towns, me showing her the literal ropes and she pushing me into lap after lap of lung and leg pain. But when we both started playing for the Kootenay Kannibelles, I couldn’t help but fall in love with her unbreakable spirit. Playing a contact sport creates relationships like no other. When you go through battles together, sweating and fighting for the same goal, laughing and crying and missing and conquering, you can’t help but learn beautiful things about that human next to you.
Then Evan skated in, wearing his zebra stripes and a mischievous grin to match the glint in Ash’s eyes. There was little left to do but watch the inevitable unfold, and perhaps inspire you to think about when you fell in love with your own spirit animal. Ashton has a way of doing that—making you remember to relish the good stuff and laugh at the bad. And Evan? Well, with that good-hearted smirk half-hiding behind his whistle, it’s clear he’s some good stuff.
