I first met Magda and Auri five years ago. They still had baby faces and their expressions were both curious and hesitant. We spent some time in the forest with their toys, a skateboard and bikes they were just learning to navigate.
Now, their faces are no longer round. Their chins jut forward with confidant defiance. They’ve nearly mastered complicated tricks amongst a sea of kids. They dictated where they wanted to go and what they were willing to show me.
All I could do was watch. And it was amazing.
