Family photojournalism. In the past, I’ve felt my clients’ discomfort, possibly projecting from my own, in shooting family portraits. I just wasn’t interested in making them look at me. To sit still. To be perfect for a second. That’s not real.
Those photos never told me anything other than what they look like. For me, the purpose of a photo is to tell you how it felt. Now, I bring my documentary story telling skills with my lens to my Day in the Life family photojournalism sessions. Because the seemingly small moments are the ones that make us.
