Meet Anne and John. As with many of my couples, they chose me to be their wedding photographer because they wanted to capture not how it looks, but how their day feels: the feelings they have for each other, their loved ones, and the Kootenays.
Being photographed isn’t comfortable for everyone, which is why I include engagement photos with every wedding I photograph. It’s an extremely valuable opportunity to get to know one another. Afterward, John made a great suggestion: engagement sessions could be called “get comfortable” sessions, which is the goal!
And the mission was accomplished. Their wedding was full of touching, emotional connections with their parents, kids and extended family. Without that comfort with one another, capturing intimacy is disingenuous. As you can see here, Anne and John will forever be able to look back at their photographs, and be reminded of how much love and beauty surrounds them.
Thank you for trusting me, Anne and John.
