This was a special one for me, full of much anticipation. I first met Kayla when I was her sister Kristen and husband Greg’s Okanagan wedding photographer three years ago.
I then met Kevin for the first time two years ago in a meadow somewhere between Nelson and Vernon. Kevin lived in the States, and Kayla lived in Vernon. He was en route back home, and I was traveling for a camping trip. We worked out schedule out so that we could meet me for their engagement photos as he headed back home to Idaho. They were obviously so happy to be in each other’s arms, and the way he looked at her stole my heart.
Theirs was a long distance, cross-border relationship, but they knew very early on that they’d be having an Okanagan wedding and then start building their family in Canada. Kevin managed to secure citizenship shortly after the wedding, and Kayla found them an awesome little place to call their own in Vernon.
Kayla and Kevin hosted an absolutely beautiful ceremony overlooking the Okanagan valley above Vernon at Turtle Mountain Winery (also known as Turtle Mountain Vineyards). It was an intimate affair with their closest friends and family, and they started the reception with their first dance. Dance first, party next!
The weather was perfect and Kayla and Kevin were total stunners. It was heartwarming to see the miles between them melt away as they started their lives together. Much love, you two!
