In my Nelson BC family photography, I aim to capture the spirit of who you are. For the Arness family, they love their home on the lake, full of all their kids and furry friends. When I entered the house, the porch was full of winter boots covered in melting snow. Winter clothes were strewn over banisters and winter adventure photos were taped to the fringe. It was clear to me that they enjoy the outdoors. So that’s where we went! We were in the midst of a giant snowstorm and all the kids were home for the holidays. The timing was perfect. They put all their winter clothes and we trudged out to the meadow a few steps from their front door.
Although I start family photography sessions with more typical portraits, we always evolve into something more candid. My approach begins with the portrait because this is essentially what people “expect” of photos. People think they need to stop what they’re doing and look at a camera. However, my clients tend to hire me to take them a few steps further. We want to bring out their personalities! For a family like the Arnesses, that had to involve snowballs.
I want your family photographs to be enjoyable. I want your photographs to be an experience you have with your family. It’s not about remembering how you looked on that day when a photographer took your photograph. I want you to remember how much fun you had that day with your family–and a photographer happened to be there.
Nelson BC Family Photography is fun!
