Melissa and Graham have been a family for some time, so their Nelson BC elopement was very much about them and their two awesome kids. They wanted the kids at the wedding ceremony at Kokanee Creek Provincial Park, a special place for their family. For their portraits, they wanted somewhere romantic without the kids.
Doing a family elopement gives you lots of flexibility with time. We chose a location that someone wouldn’t often have time to go to on a big wedding day, and never while wearing your wedding finery–the Old Growth Forest near Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park. The kids stayed with the grandparents and Melissa changed her shoes while Graham grabbed a picnic basket with wine.
We wandered around the incredible forest, making wonderful wedding photos wherever we wanted. There was no rush, and it was only about them and documenting their day in a place that they really loved and felt connected to.
