Niki and Darryl are two of the sweetest people I have ever met. They are kind, gentle, thoughtful, and calm. Yet because he comes from an Italian family, their Kootenay wedding was going to be big—which made them a little uncomfortable with sharing their deepest emotions. So they had a brilliant idea… they would share a first look before their Kootenay wedding with private vow ceremony in the forest.
Even with the laid back feel of the Kootenays, wedding days can feel like a whirlwind—so your wedding photographer is an essential element to help you remember the day. So many people, so many emotions, so much buzzing activity. It can be hard to be alone for a few minutes. There’s no more perfect time than during your first look. And you can make them even more special if you’re a little shy with sharing your feelings, and have private vows as part of your first look.
We chose to go to Champion Lakes for their first look because it was a huge part of Niki’s childhood. Their vows were actually at the campsite where they usually stayed! How special is that? And then combining first look and private vows? It was perfect for who Niki and Darryl are.
Unfortunately their wonderful pup Pal couldn’t join us, but he was with us for the ceremony and getting ready. He’s a such a sweet fella, and perfectly suited to their personalities. He made quite the appearance during the procession, and he almost stole the show during the wedding!
Kootenay Wedding with Private Vow Ceremony
When we book your wedding, we will have many, many consultations and coffees and talks about how to make your day perfect for who you are and what you value. I’ll help you figure out locations that not only are meaningful to you, but also fit into your schedule. Perhaps first look and private vows speaks to you as a couple. If so, I would absolutely love to document it for you.
